But we, as spectators know that the more the drivers and teams complain about this, the best the show is going to be. And this is exactly what happened. Just like in Monaco two weeks ago, difficult racing conditions helped creating a spectacular race.
The start of the race took place without any great changes. Hamilton turned first, followed by Kubica and Raikkonen. This situation in the top remained for about 20 laps, when the safety car got inside the track, after Sutil with Force India had a gearbox failure and got out of the race, leaving the car within the track.
Everyone went inside the pits to change tyres and refuel. As the drivers were coming out, Kubica and Raikkonen were in front (Hamilton had a longer pit stop thus losing his place). However the red light was still on so Kimi and Kubica stopped at the end of the pit lane side by side waiting for the light to go green. The start went OK with no accidents. Hamilton had an excellent start and got in front of Kimi Raikkonen for P2. The race seemed to had taken its natural pace when things started to change. Many pilots switched tyres from "wet" to "extreme conditions". After some time the rain stopped but the forecast was expecting race to start again soon. That was the time when strategies started changing. Some pilots were using wet tyres, some were using "extreme conditions" tyres, with the second being faster at the time.
