Leiws Hamilton was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in January 7 1985. He started racing Karts at the age of eight. He approached Ron Dennis at an awards ceremony and told him : "I'm going to race for you one day... I'm going to race for McLaren".From the Cadet ranks (1993-97),he progressed though the Junior Yamaha (1998) and Junior Intercontinental A (1999) divisions, attracting the attention of Team McLaren, which signed him for the McLaren driver development support programm.
Lewis Hamilton continued his progress in the Intercontinental A (1999), Formula A (2000) and Formula Super A (2001) ranks and became European Champion in 2000 with maximum points. In Formula A and Formula Super A, racing for Team MBM.com, his team mate was Nico Rosberg, who would later drive for the Williams team in Formula One. Following his karting successes, the British Racing Drivers' Club made him a ‘Rising Star’ Member in 2000. Hamilton raced in Euroseries champions ASM in 2005 and dominated the championship winning 15 from the 20 rounds. In 2006 he competed in GP2 and also won this championship too,at his first attempt winning five out of 21 races.So after that, the only challenge left was formula one.
He began racing for Mclaren this year (2007),making an excelent start by taking the third place in his debut race in Austalia,second place in Malaisia and continuing finishing on the podium for 7 more races winning two of them. hmmmmmmm....I think Mclaren didn't make a bad choice by letting young Lewis race.He got on the podium nine times in nine races.Very impressive considering that this is his debut season in formula one. His streak stopped in Nurburgring.In the qualifying session his tyre broke and he ended up on the barriers. Fortunately he came out fine but he wasn't able to make a fast lap so he started his race from the 10th position.At the beggining of the race, he managed to get to 4th position but it seems that luck was not on his side that weekend.He had a problem with the tyres again and lost his position.Afterwards his race was ruined as the race started again due to heavy rain,and Hamilton was not able to get into the points. But that did not stop him from going into the next race in Hungary and win the Grand prix. Till now(till Hungury),he has won 3 Grand prix,finished second 4 times and third 3 times, in 11 races giving him 80 points and the lead in the formula one world championship.He is the first driver who manages to lead in the championship in his debut season.Also he holds the record of most consecutive podiums in a debut season. And who knows what will come next.
The sure thing is that Hamilton made a great start in formula one and seems that a great career awaits him. Many talented drivers have passed though formula one,others became champions and others have just disapeared. But all had a difference compared to young Lewis. All had lack of experience,and it is surely justified, cause experience is not something you can gain from one day to another,and in formula one it counts a lot. But you can't say the same for young Lewis, as he makes none of the mistakes an inexperienced driver would.As a matter of fact, till now he just hasn't made any. You can easily compare his driving style to other "older" drivers,and you will come to the conclusion that Hamilton has nothing to be jelous of.That's why young Lewis is different,that's why he stands side by side with a world champion (Fernando Alonso) as a worthy opponent and teammate,that's why he made the greatest start anyone ever did in his debut season and that why he is leading the formula one world championship at the age of 22.I think we will see him world champion one day.He deserves it. And who knows, that day may not be far away.
