Nick Heidfeld is confident that BMW’s balance will improve during the last month remaining before the new season starts. He admits the new car is better than the last one but he is cautious about BMW’s chances of catching McLaren and Ferrari.
“The car is most definitely better than last year's," said the 30-year-old. You just have to take a look at the lap times to realise this. At the latest test, I said the old car was better balanced - but you shouldn't forget that we had an entire year to find this balance. Since then, we've had time to improve the new car's balance too, and it is also equipped with new components”, he said.
The team has a little less than a month to improve, until the championship starts in Australia on March 16th. They are currently working on two possible setup options. They will also work towards balance until then. Everything is working within a normal timeframe, Heidfeld explained.
