BMW's Robert Kubica, made an excelent start in the 2008 season. BMW technical director, Willy Rampf, praised him, as after the end of Barcelona's grand prix, we saw the Polish moving up to the third place in the standings, just one point behind Lewis Hamilton and a furhter nine from Kimi Raikkonen.
"Obviously Robert has gained a lot of experience. I think especially this winter, when we brought the new car onto the track, it was very important that we relied on and got very exact feedback to develop the car, because when it comes to balance issues, it's not always so easy to see it in the wind tunnel or on the data. I think he has done a very good job. His comments are quite precise and quite repeatable, which is very important for us. He has certainly learned a lot, and made a step up compared to last year", Rampf told the team's website.
The Polish also managed to get his first pole position in the Bahrain grand prix, proving that he indeed made a step up, comparing to last year. Kubica has out placed his more experienced teammate Nick Heidfeld, and gathered 19 points which gave him the third place in the standings so far. Along with his teamate's, Nick Heidfeld, 16 points, BMW in now in the second place in the constuctors' championship.
