Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets in Monday's testing in Barcelona, proving that the McLarens can still challenge the Ferraris who seemed to be so far ahead a few weeks ago. Lewis Hamilton made the fastest lap with 1:22.276, after completing 78 laps in the circuit, bitting both last years world champion Kimi Raikkonen and seven times world champion Michael Schumacher, who also tested for Ferrari.

It was the first time for Michael Schumacher to race with Kimi Raikkonen as teammates. The German and the Finn made the second and the third fastest laps respectively, both times less than two tenths behind Lewis Hamilton's lap. Kazuki Nakajima continued his impressive start at Williams making the fourth fastest lap ahead of Heikki Kovalainen's McLaren and 2,5 tenths of a second ahead of his teammate Nico Rosberg who came 6th. Adrian Sutil was an impressive 9th for Force India while Vitantonio Liuzzi was 12th.
