Kazuki Nakajima made the fastest lap at the third day of testing in Barcelona. After two days of raining the weather was finally shiny and allowed the teams to make the laps required and test the cars. Nakajima made a lap of 1:22.153 after completing 32 laps in the circuit.
McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen and Pedro de la Rosa came second and third respectively,
both less than a tenth of a second behind Nakajima. Felipe Massa came fourth just 0.005 seconds behind Pedro de la Rosa after completing 96 laps, with Nico Rosberg coming fifth behind the Brazilian with a 0.035 second difference after 109 laps.
Double world champion Fernando Alonso was ninth, half a second behind Nakajima. After along time he tested his R28 on a dry circuit by completing 61 laps. "We have been waiting for a long time to do some dry running and we made the most of it. The track conditions were not perfect, but they were good enough for what we wanted to test and they remained consistent for the whole day. We tested some small things with the car and I was happy with the performance and behaviour of the car. Now I'm looking forward to next week for our last three days here in Barcelona." he said.
