Honda withdraws from F1 - F1 News

Finally the world economic crisis seems to have reached the "magical" world of F1 racing.

Lewis Hamilton is the new world champion

We have finally reached the end of the 2008 Formula 1 season. The last race held a thrilling finish for the very end. The Brazilian grand prix started as expected. Boring and with very conservative driving from all drivers except for Massa.

He gave everything during this race and probably had the race of his life. He took the pole, he drove faster than anyone else and finally won the race. However this was not enough as Lewis Hamilton took the so much needed 5th place at the very last corner of the race.

Lewis started a conservative race, trying to hold 4th or 5th place at times. He didn't push, he didn't risk. He had a boring race and everything seemed to stay this way until the end.

Massa in Pole, Hamilton Fourth - Brazilian qualification

That is going to be it. We have reached the final qualification session of the season. We have two world champion challengers, and a gap of 7 points between them. Each one of them got what he wanted during this session. Massa pushed hard and claimed a glorious pole, while Lewis Hamilton followed a more conservative strategy and took fourth.

Felipe Massa has to win this race in order to have some realistic chances of winning the title. On the other hand Lewis Hamilton will be happy if he got a 5th place, a place that will crown him champion no matter what.

Hamilton got one step closer

Lewis Hamilton got a step closer to the title, as he won the race in China, raising the gap between him and his rival Felipe Massa. Robert Kubica will not be fighting for the title in the final race, in Brazil, as he finished in 6th place, and could not close the gap with McLaren's Lewis Hamilton.

Hamillton won his 13th Pole in China - Superstitious?

Lewis Hamilton won his 13th pole today, during the final qualification session in Shanghai. He will clearly have the chances on his side tomorrow, in order to become the youngest F1 world champion.

Alonso continues in Fuji - F1 News

Fernando Alonso continued his good performance after Singapore, as he won again in Fuji. This was his second in a row win, this season, after he stated in the beggining of the season that it is very difficult to be even in the podium this year. His teammate Nelson Piquet Jr, was 4th, proving that Renault team has made big steps of improvement. Robert Kubica managed to keep the second place, after a battle with Kimi Raikkonen, gaining 8 points, as his main rivals Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa were far behind him. Considering that Lewis Hamilton was out of the points, Robert Kubica got back in the fight for the championship just two races before the end, giving more interest to this fantastic season.
