Massa Takes French Victory - F1 News

The race started with Kimi Raikkonen being on top. Truli had a good start along with Alonso, while Kubica was unlucky during the start of the race as he had the worse start among the top drivers if the grid.

The Finn remained on top until after his first pit stop. During his second part of the race he faced a problem with his Ferrari's exhaust. The exhaust on the right side broke and the hot fumes burned the engine cover on that side. As a result, Kimi started losing ground, in Massa's favor. Massa finally got ahead, while it was not sure if the Finn would go until the end of the race.

Historical First Victory for BMW in Canada

Today we saw that the championship is far from decided. Track conditions and driver's mistakes gave a new flavor to the standings.

To begin with we have to mention that many drivers and teams had been complaining about the track conditions this year in Canada. But we, as spectators know that the more the drivers and teams complain about this, the best the show is going to be. And this is exactly what happened. Just like in Monaco two weeks ago, difficult racing conditions helped creating a spectacular race.

The start of the race took place without any great changes. Hamilton turned first, followed by Kubica and Raikkonen. This situation in the top remained for about 20 laps, when the safety car got inside the track, after Sutil with Force India had a gearbox failure and got out of the race, leaving the car within the track.

Everyone went inside the pits to change tyres and refuel. As the drivers were coming out, Kubica and Raikkonen were in front (Hamilton had a longer pit stop thus losing his place). However the red light was still on so Kimi and Kubica stopped at the end of the pit lane side by side waiting for the light to go green. Lewis Hamilton couldn't brake on time and crashed his McLaren on the rear side of Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari, causing both of them to retire from the race.

Hamilton took the pole in Canada

Lewis Hamilton made a fantastic final lap, during the qualifying session on Saturday, and stole the pole position fromRobert Kubica, who came 2nd. Saturday's results were not as good as expected, for the Ferrari team, with Kimi Raikkonen coming in 3rd place and Felipe Massa in 6th. Raikkonen was frustrated by Ferrari's bad qualifying session.

Hamilton Victorious in a Chaotic Monaco Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton was the winner of the 2008 Monaco Grand Prix, a really chaotic race where many things happened, risks were taken, mistakes were made.

The race started under rain, and the majority of the pilots had chosen the rain tyres to use. It seemed like a thrilling start as it was the first time after a very long time that the drivers had to race with no electronic aid in the slippery wet Monaco track.

The start went OK with no accidents. Hamilton had an excellent start and got in front of Kimi Raikkonen for P2. The race seemed to had taken its natural pace when things started to change. Many pilots switched tyres from "wet" to "extreme conditions". After some time the rain stopped but the forecast was expecting race to start again soon. That was the time when strategies started changing. Some pilots were using wet tyres, some were using "extreme conditions" tyres, with the second being faster at the time.
