Hamilton demoted to third place - F1 News

Lewis Hamilton has been stripped of his Belgium race victory, after the stewards decision, on a highly controversial incident.

After the rain started pouring in the last two laps, Lewis Hamilton got right behind Kimi Raikkonen. At the bus station chicane, the Briton tried to pass Kimi, but went off track. He didn't slow down and he passed him after "cutting" his way into the track. He let The Finn pass right afterwards, but his positioning had given him a huge advantage along with the ability to pass Raikkonen right in the next corner.

The decision was a 25sec, penalty to Lewis Hamilton. This means that the McLaren driver has been demoted to third place, leaving Felipe Massa in first, with Nick Heidfeld second.

This is what Lewis Hamilton told the F1 news media.

"Firstly, Kimi ran me wide. To avoid an incident, I had to go up that part of the track. There was no advantage. I lifted along the straight. I clearly let him past."

Latest info says that McLaren team has appealed the decision.
