Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel won his first Singapore Grand Prix, after starting from the pole and keeping the lead for the whole race. Jenson Button turned second in the first corner and kept the 2nd place also until the end of the race, giving a very good performance. Mark Webber finished 3rd after fighting with Fernando Alonso during the race. Sebastian Vettel made a fantastic start keeping his position. His teammate though, Mark Webber, was not able to make a good start and lost two positions by the time he turned in the first corner. He fell in 4th place, as Jenson Button took the 2nd place and Fernando Alonso the 3rd. After the first corner Felipe Massa was 5th, Nico Rosberg 6th and teammate Michael Schumacher 7th, as Lewis Hamilton lost 3 places and was 8th.
Lewis Hamilton started his attack early as in lap 4 he attacked Michael Schumacher and passed him to place himself 7th. One lap after that, he bypassed the second Mercedes placing Nico Rosberg in 7th place as Lewis Hamilton took the 6th place. Mark Webber made his first attack on Fernando Alonso in 10th lap taking the 3rd place. Fernando Alonso got in the pits immediately after that. When the pit stops where over Alonso found himself again in front of Mark Webber. Lewis Hamilton tried to pass Felipe Massa on 12th lap, but they had a collision. Massa lost his rear right tyre and Hamilton his front wing. They both got to the pits to change them and lost too many places. Hamilton also got a drive through penalty due to that. On lap 30, Michael Schumacher had a collision with Sergio Perez resulting in Michael Schumacher's retirement from the race.
On lap 34 Mark Webber passed Ferrari's Fernando Alonso again to place himself 3rd and finish the race in that position. Lewis Hamilton started gaining places in the next laps. He got himself in 8th place and within 3 laps he had climbed to 5th, passing Adrian Sutil, Nico Rosberg and Paul di Resta. Hamilton finished in 5ht place. Sebastian Vettel won the race but Jenson Button did not let him to win the championship yet, as he came 2nd.
