Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber confirmed that Red Bull racing is going to challenge the Brawn GP for the championship, after a very convincing 1-2 achieved at Silverstone.
Vettel started his race from pole and left no doubts about who is the quickest man on track. He pulled away from Barichello easily, pushing his Red Bull right from the beginning. Mark Webber was third after the first lap, chasing the Brazilian. Nakajima had a good start and turned fourth, while Jenson Button fell behind in 9th place as he was stuck behind Jarno Trulli's Toyota.
Red Bull cars have been very fast during the whole race and everyone new that without any technical problems, they wouldn't have any problem winning the race. Mark Webber managed to pass Barichello during the first pit stop and that was it pretty much.
However, despite the fact that the top positions were taken from the start, we have witnessed quite a few battles for the other places behind. We have seen F. Alonso fighting with L. Hamilton for P16. Also during the race Alonso also fought with Heidfeld, while Hamilton was tailing R. Kubica.
The surprise came from F. Massa who started the race from the 11th position, and managed to cross the finish line in 4th. His heavy fuel load paid off and despite having an indifferent race, the result came, giving Ferrari some valuable championship points.
Rosberg took 5th, Button managed to get 6th, while J. Trulli and K. Raikkonen completed the top eight.
The race favored Red Bull instead of Brawn GP due to the low temperatures on track. Brawn GP racing cars have a greater advantage on hot tracks, as they manage to treat their tyres in a more friendly way under these conditions.
So Red Bull is coming up, Brawn GP is going to try and keep what has been achieved until now. It seems that it is going to be a battle of the two teams, as Toyota seems to have fallen back, along with Renault as Alonso's efforts are not enough. BMW is completely out of time, as all hopes during the winter are now lost. The team has worked a lot on KERS, and the fact that they decided to remove it from their cars shows that they have invested in the wrong side. McLaren shows no signs of speed while Ferrari stopped improving during the latest races.
