Some rain, was enough to give us one of the best qualifying sessions we have witnessed during the last years. It started falling at the end of Q1 continued during Q2 and left Q3 free for the remaining drivers.
We also had some surprises during this qualification session. Apart from the top positions, held by Red Bull Racing and Brawn GP, we saw McLaren coming up and be competitive during the session. Also, we have seen N. Piquet jr being faster than Alosno, something that we are not used to. Another surprise is the Toyota's performance which was poor. We expected Toyota to be able to support the good season start it had made.
So, Mark Webber took the pole after a nice battle, during which the pole changed owner five times, and this only after the chequered flag fell. Rubens Barichello followed leaving Jenson Button third and S. Vettel fourth. L. Hamilton and H. Kovalainen followed, showing that the McLaren team is going to fight for the podium tomorrow. We think it is possible if the fuel they are carrying is comparable to the first four.
The results are as follows:
01 M. Webber Red Bull 1:32.230
02 R. Barrichello Brawn GP 1:32.357
