Red Bull's Mark Webber took the pole in Silverstone, making a slight change as Sebastian Vettel will also start from the first line on Sunday, after he finished in 2nd place. Mark Webber made a fast lap of 1:30.399 seconds while teammate Sebastian Vettel finished 2nd, less than a tenth of a second behind Webber, with 1:30.431 seconds. FIA changed the regulations in Silverstone but that did not seem to affect the Red Bull team. Ferrari seems to have made a progress as they seemed to be faster than McLaren's in Silverstone. Fernando Alonso finished 3rd, also less than a tenth of a second, behind Sebastian Vettel, while his teammate Felipe Massa was 4th with 1:31.124.
Jenson Button will start from the 3rd line on Sunday as he made the 5th fastest lap in qualifying with 1:31.898. Many surprises came in the places below. Force India's Paul di Resta will fill the 3rd line, after finishing 6th. Williams' Pastor Maldonado was 7th with Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi in 8th place. Mercedes' Nico Rosberg came 9th. Surprisingly Lewis Hamitlon finished 10th with 1:32.376, half a second behind his teammate Jenson Button.
