A Glorious victory for Vettel - China 2009

Rain showed up for another time during this season's championship. In fact rain was already there when the Chinese race started. The race start took place behind the safety car, which remained in track for 7 laps.

After the safety car went off track, Vettel immediately started driving at a very quick pace showing that his is going to be the ruler of the race.

Alonso and his team made a destructive choice when they decided to refuel his car during the final lap of the safety car. The Spaniard fell back to the last place and never recovered back to the top.

Webber and Button had some good fights, at times, during the race but in the end the Australian took second place.

Barrichelo finished the race fourth followed by the two McLaren drivers, Kovalainen and Hamilton who couldn't avoid making plenty of mistakes resulting in a good number of spins.

Despite the heavy rain, and letting alone the first three places, we have seen plenty of overtakings and battles inside the track. We also had some accidents that caused the safety car to get back in track.

McLaren seemed to be faster than it was during the previous races, while Ferrari had some problems with their reliability, causing Massa to retire early, and preventing Kimi from being much of a challenge to anyone close to the top.

Toyota showed up slower than expected, and it probably had something to do with their setup, which was not suitable for rain conditions. We expect to see the team stronger during the next race, as Toyota had made much testing there.

The conclusion is that S. Vettel confirmed his great ability under rain conditions, and also proved his great challenge once more. The championship is going to be on fire during the next races as nearly all teams will start using the double diffuser after the decision of the judges that it is legal.

A question remains about the use of KERS, as most teams removed this system from their cars during this race. It is obviously a new technology that is not fully competitive and functional yet, jut like the turbo engines back at the beginning of the '80s.

We will have to wait to see if some team will find a way to use it as an advantage, in time.
