Brawn GP dominated Sunday's race in Barcelona, with Jenson Button winning his 4th Grand Prix in five races, and Rubbens Barrichello taking the second place. It could have been the other way around, as Barrichello was 1st during more than half of the race, but a 3-stop strategy got him to the second place, in favor of his teammate who had a 2-stop strategy. Mark Webber with RedBull completed the podium.
Ferrari's Felipe Massa was 4th during most of the race, but an inexcusable mistake by his team made him finish in 6th place, feeling lucky to even had the chance to cross the finish line. Ferrari probably made a calculation error and Massa faced serious problems with fuel during the last laps. His fuel proved to be less than enough for him to finish the race, resulting in slowing down in order to save his fuel to the finish line. As it was expected he could not defend his position like this, and lost it to Sebastian Vettel who finished 4th. But a few laps after that, and during the final lap Fernando Alonso also bypassed him taking the 5ht place and leaving Massa to compromise with the 6th. Nick Heidfeld in 7th place and Nico Rosberg in 8th, took the last points.
The two STR had a collision in the first lap, at the same time that Jarno Trulli had a collision with Adrian Sutil. Heikki Kovalainen retired early after a gearbox problem, while Kimi Raikkonen also retired a few laps after that due to a mechanical problem. Ferrari showed that they got more competitive than they were in the beginning of the championship, but still, mechanical problems and strategic mistakes have led them to a 7th place in the constructor's championship,so far, with 6 points. The second McLaren finished 9th, and with the second McLaren retiring from the race, they proved once more that they are not even close to where they were the previous years.
