Heikki Kovalainen took the frist pole position of his career, in Silverstone, which he hopes to turn into a win in Sunday's race. Surprisingly Mark Webber was in second place, about 5 tenths behind the Finn, with 1:21.554 seconds. A dissapointing performance by Felipe Massa as he came 9th behind Sebastian Vettel and Nelson Piquet Jr, while his teammate Kimi Raikkonen was 3rd. Lewis Hamilton came fourth with Nick Heidfeld and Fernando Alonso filling in the 5th and 6th places respectively. Robert Kubica made it to the Q3 but did not race and made no time there. So he will start his race from 10th place.
