Sebastian Vettel took the poll position from Brawn GP this time but this time it was not Jenson Button who fought with him but Rubens Barrichello. Vettel made a lap of 1:19.509 seconds, while Barrichello was 3 tenths behind with 1:19.856 seconds.

Mark Webber was 3rd with 1:19.868 seconds. RedBull has made a progress as it seems, and may be they can be competitive enough to face the Brawns. Jarno Trulli was 4th, but the surprise came with Kazuki Nakajima in the 5th place. Jenson Button was 6th with 1:20.289 seconds, a position he is not used to be in, this season. Nico Rosberg was 7th and the second Toyota was 8th with Timo Glock. Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso completed the Q3.
